 HBB is a family owned business started in 1945 by Cary R. Houchins and his son Cary D. Houchins. Today, 60 years later, it is still a family owned business being run by Jessie A. Houchins, widow of its founder, Cary D. Houchins. HBB’s founder’s vision, to produce a high quality building block for the construction industry and homeowners, is still prominent in the mind of Jessie A. Houchins.
At HBB we search for the highest quality materials, from aggregates to cement, and use time-tested methods to insure a consistent product. HBB conducts its own breaking pressure testing to insure that it’s products meet ASTM specifications. Building block produced at HBB do not just meet ASTM specifications. HBB periodically has an independant laboratory conduct strength tests according to ASTM testing standards on our block and certify that they meet and even exceed all ASTM specifications for masonry units. For concrete block produced by HBB, we strive for consistency not only in strength but also in color, modular sizing, and split face consistency.
HBB makes in excess of 100 different types of blocks, including architectural, standard, splits, 45-degree corner, fluted, and many other specialty units. For your concrete building block needs you will not find a better block than one produced by HBB.
